The Faculty of Theology at the University of Zurich is honored to host the 24th congress of the International Organization for the Study of the Old Testament (IOSOT) in Zurich, which is scheduled for August 8–12, 2022. In conjunction with this meeting, Zurich will also be hosting the congresses of the International Organization for Masoretic Studies (IOMS), the International Organization for Septuagint and Cognate Studies (IOSCS), the International Organization for Qumran Studies (IOQS), and the International Organization for Vulgate Studies (IOVS).
IOSOT is dedicated to academic excellence and intellectual diversity. The congress is open to all who are interested in the scientific study of the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament and adjacent fields. Papers can and will be held in English, German, or French.
The history of the IOSOT has been aptly described by "Rudolf Smend, Fifty Years International Organization for the Study of the Old Testament and Vetus Testamentum", Vetus Testamentum 50 (2000): 14–26. (PDF, 132 KB)
The congress is organized by the local committee in Zurich, and the program has been discussed by the IOSOT board which is identical to the Vetus Testamentum editorial board. Annette Schellenberg from the University of Vienna is Vetus Testamentum’s general editor and the current secretary general of IOSOT.
We are looking forward to welcoming you soon in Zurich!
